The State of Oklahoma Poem
Oh, Oklahoma, land of open skies,
Where prairies stretch for miles, where dreams arise.
From Tulsa's bustling city streets,
To Oklahoma City's neon lights that compete,
This state holds a charm that can't be denied,
A place where perseverance and hope reside.
The Panhandle, a vast expanse, so grand,
With golden fields and windswept sand.
Here, nature whispers secrets old and wise,
As red dirt roads lead to the horizon's guise.
Dust storms dance with the setting sun,
Connecting past, present, and what's to come.
Along the Arkansas, the rivers flow,
Carving their paths through valleys below.
Gentle waters paint a tranquil scene,
As fishermen cast lines and find their dreams.
Bison roam through grasslands wide,
A symbol of strength, of heritage, and pride.
Native tribes, with stories of the past,
Their traditions alive, resilient and fast.
Cherokee, Chickasaw, and Choctaw's embrace,
Echo through the land, leaving a sacred trace.
In the heartbeat of their drums and chants of old,
Oklahoma's rich tapestry begins to unfold.
Okies, they call themselves with pride,
Their spirit unyielding, side by side.
Fierce storms may threaten, but they'll endure,
Facing adversity, their hearts remain pure.
Working the fields under the scorching sun,
Tilling the soil till the day is done.
Oil wells pump lifeblood deep from the earth,
Black gold flowing, a state's worth.
Boots and spurs, a cowboy's attire,
Rodeos and roping, an Oklahoma fire.
The land of Dust Bowl and Route 66,
A grit and determination that still sticks.
Oklahoma, you are a symphony of pride,
A mosaic of cultures, where many stories reside.
Your landscapes paint a picture of vast diversity,
From the plains to the mountains, a tapestry.
Soaring above, your spirit takes flight,
Oklahoma, a beacon, shining ever bright.
