The State of Kansas Poem
In the heart of America, lies a land so wide,
A state of golden plains, where dreams collide.
Kansas, dear Kansas, where the prairies roam,
A beauty untold, a place called home.
From the Flint Hills' rolling green,
To the mighty Kansas River's serene,
Nature's canvas painted with grace,
In this land, tranquility finds its place.
As the sun rises over amber fields,
A symphony of colors, the landscape yields.
Wheat as far as the eye can see,
Feeding nations, a vital commodity.
Settlers came, braving harsh frontier,
Building communities, cherished and dear.
Towns emerged, each with its own story,
Unveiling the legacy, Kansas's glory.
Dorothy and Toto, from tale to screen,
The Yellow Brick Road, a journey unforeseen.
Kansas, a place of whimsical lore,
Where dreams take flight, forevermore.
From Topeka's capitol, where history stands,
To Lawrence's academic halls, where knowledge expands,
Wichita's urban charm, bustling and alive,
Kansas City's jazz beat, causing hearts to thrive.
But beyond the cities, far and wide,
The spirit of Kansas flows like a tide.
Hardworking souls, with hands so strong,
United in hope, where they belong.
Tornadoes may dance across the sky,
Yet Kans stand tall, never asking why.
Resilient hearts, filled with grit and might,
Facing storms with courage, day and night.
Through golden sunsets and starry nights,
Kansas whispers secrets, shining its lights.
A land of opportunity, where dreams ignite,
Embracing the journey, with all its might.
Oh Kansas, dear Kansas, your spirit soars,
Unfolding beauty through prairies and moors.
A tapestry woven with strength and pride,
Kansas, forever, with you we stride.
